New York State Grown & Certified
New York State Grown & Certified Program was created to strengthen consumer confidence in NY products and assist farmers so they can take advantage of the growing market for locally grown foods. Producers are required to adhere to high standards of food safety and environmental stewardship.
Eligible commodities are: dairy, eggs, beef, poultry, seafood, Christmas trees, maple products, cut flowers, craft beverage ingredients, wine, spirits, beer and cider.
Requirements include that the products are grown and produced in New York State, farms must participate in a third-party food safety verification program and must participate in an environmental management program.
The District provides assistance for local growers through the Agricultural Environmental Management (AEM) Plan.
